La Jana
The village of La Jana is located at the northern end of the Valencian Community, in the pre-coastal area of the interior of the Comarca del Maestrat.
The climatology of La Jana, typical of a Mediterranean pre-coastal zone, is characterized by mild winters, dry and hot summers, an annual rainfall between 600 and 700 litres and an average relative humidity between 70 and 75 %. This is excellent for the development of olives and the extraction of an extra virgin olive oil of excellent quality.
But the region of Maestrat is also influenced by the Mistral wind, that comes down the Valley of Ebro and which we call vent de Serra. This wind exceeds on many occasions the 100 km/h. This has shaped the character of the people who live in these lands and the olive trees that make up the landscape, since the planting, pruning, and any other work in the field are conditioned to the vent of Serra .
